KORONADAL CITY
- Employees of the Central Mindanao Integrated Agricultural Research Center
(CEMIARC) of the Department of Agriculture 12 based in Tupi, South Cotabato
highlighted their station’s 58th founding anniversary with a farmers’ field
day.

At least 50
farmers from different local government units of South Cotabato province were
invited to join the celebration with a Holy Mass celebrated early in the
morning at 7:30 in the morning.

COTABATO CITY- The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in theAutonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BFAR-ARMM) today said the region now has more than 200,000 registered fisher folks following the implementation ofthe Fisherfolk Registration (FishR) program of the national
government.

COTABATO CITY - For working doubly hard and for working beyond working hours, the Department of Agriculture is set to confer award to ten agricultural extension workers from North Cotabatofor this year’s National Quality Corn Achievers’ Awards (NQCAA) in Cagayan de Oro City on October 22. Amalia Jayag-Datukan, DA 12 regional executive director, said the corn technicians who are from North Cotabato province will join other outstanding AEWs assigned on corn production from all over the country.They represented the SOCCSKSARGEN region in the national search.

COTABATO CITY, (Sept.29) - Farming communities in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) are expected to be more productive with the regional government extending the necessary assistance in organic farming.ARMM will be assisting a number of farming communities venture into halal and organic food business as part of its livelihood support to more than 100 underserved communities in the region. The project, which is being handled by the ARMM Health, Education, Livelihood, Peace and Synergy (HELPS) program, will be piloted in Barangay Balas in Lamitan City.

COTABATO CITY (Sept. 29) – Koronadal City, the
regional seat of the SOCCSKSARGEN region is aiming to become the first organic
agriculture city of the region.

To achieve that, the city will host the first
Organic Farming as one of the activities of Koronadal City 14th Charter
anniversary, the city agriculture office said.

Koronadal City Mayor Peter Miguel wants the city to
become the Organic Agriculture City of the SOCCKSKSARGEN region.

MLANG,
North Cotabato (Sept. 26) -- The Mlang Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction
Management Council (MDRRMC) has urged Thursday town council to declare state of
calamity in Mlang following flash floods that destroyed vast track of rice
fields and roads.

At
least 445 hectares of rice fields in 15 low-lying villages here have submerged
during the September 13 and 24 flash floods brought about by torrential rains
which caused the Malasila and Mlang River to swell and overflowed.

DATU ODIN SINSUAT, Maguindanao(Sept.19) --- Hundreds of former guerillas on Thursday reaffirmed commitment to the Mindanao peace process as they launched their 500-hectare self-sustained community Cavendish banana farm project in Datu Odin Sinsuat town in the province.The project, which involves members of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), is the first ever large-scale communal farming venture in the province funded only with cooperative capital, without any support from foreign investors.Datumama Guiaman, chair of the Barangay Bago Inged Multi-Purpose Cooperative, told reporte

CITY (Sept. 16/NDBC) -- Members of the Moro National Liberation
Front will launch on Thursday a self-sustained 500-hectare Cavendish banana
farm in the MNLF’s main enclave in Datu Odin Sinsuat town in Maguindanao.

The
project is meant to generate livelihood needed to sustain the schooling of
children of former Moro rebels that comprise the MNLF-led Barangay Bago Inged
Multi-Purpose Cooperative.

KIDAPAWAN CITY(Sept. 15/NDBC) - Eight agricultural extension workers (AEWs) from Alamada and
one each from Carmen and Midsayap, North Cotabato, will be P20,000 richer next
month after they were chosen as recipients of the Department of Agriculture
(DA)- National Quality Corn Achievers Awards (NQCAA), a DA official announced
today.

For being
innovative and productive, DA will award 10 AEWs from North Cotabato during the
National Quality Corn Achievers Awards (NQCAA) in Cagayan de Oro City on
October 22.
