Catamco disperses swines to 130 farmers

KIDAPAWAN CITY  - One hundred thirty farmer beneficiaries were awarded with swine under the swine production program of Cotabato Governor Nancy Catamco during the dispersal at the provincial capitol today.

In her message during the signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and dispersal, the governor asked the cooperation of farmers in becoming responsible beneficiaries by attending to their swine properly and ensure proper production to earn income.

SARANGANI - For most of the small farmers in Barangay Upo, Maitum, Sarangani, making innovations and improvement in their farming were only a dream since they lack the entrepreneurship and management skills.

To make farmers’ dreams come true, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) offered a breakthrough in this indigenous peoples’ community - the Farm Business School (FBS).

BARMM holds 1st food security summit

COTABATO CITY — The Bangsomoro Government's Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) spearheaded the conduct of the first ‘Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Food Security Summit’ on December 10 to 12, 2019 in Cotabato City.

The summit, in partnership with the Department of Agriculture (DA) – Halal Food Industry Development Program, carries the theme, "Bangsamoro ay Paunlarin: Masaganang Ani, Mataas na Kita, Halal at Organikong Pagkain ay Siguruhin.”

SK farmers to benefit from DAR climate resilient projects

ISULAN, Sultan Kudarat  - Catering to six of 12 municipalities in the province of Sultan Kudarat, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently turned over farm machineries and inputs to 12 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) under the Climate Resilient Farm Productivity Support Project (CRFPS) in order to battle the effects of climate change and restore the planet's growth and rebirth.

US firm donates P5-M seeds, MinDA starts sorghum program

Davao del Norte has been chosen by the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) as the pilot area of the Sorghum Program which is aimed at producing feed grains and silage to develop poultry, hog, small ruminants and livestock in Mindanao.

Davao del Norte Governor Edwin Jubahib has committed areas for the planting of Sorghum in Talaingod town, a predominantly Indigenous People's community with large unutilized land and very high poverty incidence.

DAR-Italian projects reinforce farming activities of Sargen farmers

GEN. SANTOS CITY –  Some 2,000 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) in Sarangani province and in General Santos City were jubilant as they received P53 million worth of infrastructure projects from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) - Italian Assistance to Agrarian Reform Communities Development Support Program (IARCDSP) and local government units (LGUs).

A few minutes ago, I received a copy of the report submitted by the DA Regional Office on the alleged defective farm equipment distributed to farmers' groups.

Nilda Briones and Jerroy Ablan complained about the Rice Thresher granted to them.

Report: The Rice Thresher was procured in 2016 using the Rice Program Fund of the DA with a unit cost of P116,890. This was before the Duterte Presidency

Piñol denies acquisition of defective equipment during DA stint

DAVAO CITY -- Former Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol clarified in a Facebook post on Monday that all equipment procured and released to farmers during his stint at the agency remain operational.

The statement came after President Rodrigo Duterte said in a television interview recently that he would ask Piñol to explain the reported defective farm equipment handed out to local farmers in Eastern Visayas.

The rice farmers complained of faulty equipment, which they said are now useless.

FAO, BARMM forge deal on empowerment of agri sector

COTABATO CITY ---- The Food and Agriculture Office (FAO) of the United Nations and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) forged Monday an agreement to help each other boost the productivity of farmers in BARMM provinces.

The joint development deal was signed by FAO representative Jose Luis Fernandez and BARMM Environment Minister Abdulraof Macacua during a symbolic event on Monday morning at the office here of Bangsamoro Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim.
