3 Army battalions to secure plebiscite for creation of  8 Bangsamoro towns

COTABATO CITY - The Philippine Army will deploy three battalions of soldiers to help ensure a peaceful conduct of the April 13, 2024 plebiscite for the creation of eight municipalities covering 63 Bangsamoro barangays in different towns in North Cotabato province.

Major Gen. Alex Rillera, commander of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division, told reporters, in a press briefing on Friday, that they shall mobilize the personnel of the 90th, 34th and 6th Infantry Battalions to help the Commission on Elections facilitate the plebiscite.

MILG-BARMM trains SK leaders on formulating dev’t plans and budgeting

COTABATO CITY – To capacitate Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials from the provinces of Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur, the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MILG-BARMM) provided training on youth officials on barangay youth development plan, investment plan and budgeting processes.

Residents oppose BARMM bill splitting Wao into two

COTABATO CITY --- Hundreds of Muslim and Christian villagers in Wao, Lanao del Sur staged a rally on Thursday morning to show opposition to a proposal by a member of the Bangsamoro parliament to divide their municipality into two via a legislative measure that they knew nothing about.

Plebiscite for creation of 8 new BARMM towns set

COTABATO CITY - All is set for the April 13 plebiscite for the creation of eight Bangsamoro municipalities to cover 63 barangays in North Cotabato as part of efforts to transform component farming and fishery sites as new destinations for investors.

Residents of the 63 barangays in different towns in North Cotabato province in Region 12 voted in favor of the inclusion of their barangays into the core territory of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao during a plebiscite in early 2019.

92 PWDs receive training course program, social interventions from MSSD

COTABATO CITY – The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), in collaboration with the Center for Persons with Disability, conducted an inclusive orientation and welcoming activities for the 92 persons with disability (PWD) children’s trainees at the center in San Isidro, Rosary Heights 10, Cotabato City on February 23, 2024.

According to the Bangsamoro Autonomy Act No. 58, there are 32 parliamentary districts: eight in Lanao del Sur, seven in Sulu, four in Maguindanao del Norte, four in Maguindanao del Sur, three in Basilan, three in Tawi-Tawi, two in Cotabato City, and one in Special Geographic Area.

Residents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the delineation of their respective districts, as this will play an important part in the upcoming 2025 parliamentary elections.

BARMM Chief Minister signs into law bill creating parliamentary districts

COTABATO CITY  – Bangsamoro Region Chief Minister Ahod “Al Haj Murad” Balawag Ebrahim signed into law Wednesday night a bill creating parliamentary districts in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Ebrahim and Bangsamoro Transition Authority Speaker Pangalian Balindong led the ceremonial signing of Bangsamoro Autonomy Act (BAA) No. 58 or an “Act Providing for the Creation of Parliamentary Districts in BARMM,” about an hour after the BTA approved on third and final reading the proposed legislation.
