QUEZON CIY – The Advisory Committee (AdCom) and Executive Committee (ExCom) of RDC XII passed Resolution No. 04, series of 2023, requesting President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. to issue an Executive Order to upgrade the Bureau of Customs (BOC) Sub-Port of Dadiangas into an independent Collection District.

In brief, the move is pushing for the separation of the Sub-Port of Dadiangas from the administrative control and jurisdiction of Collection District No. XII (Port of Davao).

COTABATO CITY - The governor of Lanao del Sur survived an ambush Friday afternoon with a bullet wound in the leg, but four of his escorts were not as lucky.

Officials of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region confirmed the incident to reporters citing that four escorts of Lanao del Sur Gov. Mamintal Adiong, Jr. were killed in the attack.

MANILA – Former Maguindanao governor Datu Sajid Ampatuan was convicted by the Sandiganbayan on Friday for graft and falsification in connection with anomalous projects entered into by the province nearly 15 years ago.

The 79-page decision ruled Ampatuan guilty of eight counts of violating Republic Act 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, with a sentence of up to eight years for each count and a fine of P22.36 million as civil indemnity to the provincial government.

Jose Maria Canlas Sison, or more known as Joma Sison, Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) founder died Friday night, Dec. 16 (Philippine time). He was 83.

In self-exile in The Netherlands, Sison reportedluy died at 8:40 p.m. in an undisclosed hospital. He was rushed and confined to the hospital two weeks ago, the Communist Party of the Philippiens said in a statement, without revealing the cause of his death.

TACURONG CITY  – Two persons were killed, including the son of a tow mayor, and two others were hurt, including a minor, in a gun attack on Tuesday night, police said Wednesday.

Police Captain Leonel Delasan, Lutayan town police chief, told reporters the 6:30 p.m. shooting at the town’s public market left Datu Naga Mangudadatu, 30 a resident of Barangay Tamnag, Lutayan and son of town Mayor Pax Mangudadatu, dead.

Also killed was Dennis Hadji Daup, 25, a resident of Barangay Paitan, Mangudadatu town in Maguindanao del Sur.
