MENRE-BARMM, Cotabato Light, Aboitiz Foundation ink MOA for Timako Hill shoreline protection

TIMAKO HILL SHORELINE TO BE SAFEGUARDED AND PROTECTED

COTABATO CITY — On 08 November 2022, the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE) – BARMM, Cotabato Light and Power Company (CoLight), and Aboitiz Foundation, Inc inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the protection, preservation, and conservation of the Timako Hill shoreline as part of the Adopt-an-Estero/Water Body Program of the Ministry.

Maguindanaon fraternity aids diverse families displaced by ‘Paeng’

CIVIC organizations have pooled resources in aid of displaced residents severely affected by landslides and floods wrought by Typhoon Paeng (international name: Nalgae) in Maguindanao.

On its 53rd Founding Anniversary, the Al-Muslimin Brotherhood/ Fraternity added its packages of kitchenware, utensils, foods and garments on a weekend (Sunday, November 14) relief operation in aid of displaced families in Datu Odin Sinsuat deemed affected most by ‘Paeng.’

MPW mobilizes equipment for road clearing; repairs damaged infrastructures

COTABATO CITY — Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Public Works (MPW) has mobilized its heavy equipment and personnel to clear the roads affected by massive floodings and landslides after Tropical Storm Paeng hit the region. 

Several roads and bridges in some parts of the Bangsamoro region suffered closure due to soil erosion and flash floods. 

TS Paeng: BARMM Gov’t’s disaster response to flood-affected areas ongoing

COTABATO CITY — The Bangsamoro Government, through the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), is currently responding to the flood-affected residents in the region due to continuous rains spawned by Tropical Storm Paeng on Oct. 28, 2022. 

Together with the Bangsamoro Rapid Emergency Action on Disaster Incidence (READi) and other ministries, food, non-food items, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facilities, and other goods are now being distributed to ensure that the basic needs of those affected families and individuals are met.

At least 13 die due to flash floods, landslide in Maguindanao

COTABATO CITY  – At least 13 persons were confirmed dead while several others were missing due to flash floods and landslides that hit Maguindanao, disaster officials today said.

Heavy down pour spawned by Typhoon Paeng started at about 8 p.m. Thursday submerged low-lying areas here and in Maguindanao and North Cotabato.

DENR officials set free female Hawksbill sea turtle in Sarangani

A female Hawksbill Sea Turtle that was rescued in Maasim, Sarangani Province finally returned to its natural habitat after four months of rehabilitation. It was released at the coastal waters of Barangay Ladol in Alabel town led by DENR Sarangani PENR Officer Maria Elvira V. Lumayag together with Board Member Corazon S. Grafilo, SBPS in-house veterinarian Dr. Roy O. Mejorada and other DENR-12 personnel during the celebration of International Coastal Cleanup this morning.

Endangered Philippine eagle found dead in Sarangani province

KORONADAL CITY  – A critically endangered Philippine eagle was found dead Monday morning along the coastline of Maasim town in Sarangani, officials said.

Forester Abdul D. Cariga, DENR Community Environment and Natural Resources Officer (CENRO) of Kiamba, Sarangani, said municipal government employee found the lifeless endangered big bird along the shoreline of Barnagay Daliao at 9 a.m.

He immediately alerted Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer of of Maasim and adjacent CENRO Kiamba office that sent quick response team (QRT) for appropriate action.

KIDAPAWAN CITY - May kabuuang 2,336 na pirasong Red at White Lauan lumber sakay ng dalawang sasakyan ang naharang ng DENR Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) ng Matalam sa pamamagitan ng Monitoring and Enforcement Section nitong Huwebes, Setyembre 8 sa Methodist Checkpoint, National Highway, Kidapawan City.

Ang Kidapawan PNP at 39IB Philippine Army Taskforce ng Kidapawan ang nagma-man sa checkpoint nang maharang ang dalawang (2) sasakyang may kargang mga undocumented forest items.
