Daily Liturgical Readings

Whoever receives you, receives me

Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year

1st Reading – 2 Kings 4:8-11, 14-16A

One day Elisha came to Shunem, where there was a woman of influence, who urged him to dine with her. Afterward, whenever he passed by, he used to stop there to dine.

So she said to her husband, “I know that Elisha is a holy man of God. Since he visits us often, let us arrange a little room on the roof and furnish it for him with a bed, table, chair, and lamp, so that when he comes to us he can stay there.”

Sometime later Elisha arrived and stayed in the room overnight.

The kingdom of heaven is at hand

Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time Year

1st Reading – Exodus 19:2-6a

After they made the journey from Rephidim and entered the wilderness of Sinai, they then pitched camp in the wilderness. While Israel was encamped there in front of the mountain,

Moses went up to the mountain of God. Then the Lord called to him from the mountain, saying: This is what you will say to the house of Jacob; tell the Israelites:

You have seen how I treated the Egyptians and how I bore you up on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.

The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity

1st Reading – Exodus 34:4B-6, 8-9

Moses cut two more stone tablets, and early the next morning he carried them up Mount Sinai, just as the LORD had commanded.

The LORD came down in a cloud, stood with him there, and pronounced his holy name, the LORD.

The LORD then passed in front of him and called out, “I, the LORD, am a God who is full of compassion and pity, who is not easily angered and who shows great love and faithfulness.

Lord let your mercy be on us, as we place our trust in you

Fifth Sunday of Easter

1st Reading – Acts 6:1-7

And in those days, the number of the disciples increasing, there arose a murmuring of the Greeks against the Hebrews, for that their widows were neglected in the daily distribution.

Then the twelve calling together the multitude of the disciples, said, “It is not right for us to neglect the word of God to serve at table.

Therefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

Lord, you will show us the path of life.

Third Sunday of Easter

1st Reading – Acts 2:14, 22-33

But Peter standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and spoke to them: “You who are Jews, indeed all of you staying in Jerusalem. Let this be known to you, and listen to my words.

Ye men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you, by miracles, and wonders, and signs, which God did by him, in the midst of you, as you also know:

You are once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord

Fourth Sunday of Lent

1st Reading – 1 Samuel 16:1B, 6-7, 10-13A

The LORD said to Samuel: “Fill your horn with oil, and be on your way. I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem, for I have chosen my king from among his sons.”

As Jesse and his sons came to the sacrifice, Samuel looked at Eliab and thought, “Surely the LORD’s anointed is here before him.”

Sunday readings: Lord, you are truly the Savior of the world

Third Sunday of Lent

1st Reading – Exodus 17:3-7

In those days, in their thirst for water, the people grumbled against Moses, saying, “Why did you ever make us leave Egypt? Was it just to have us die here of thirst with our children and our livestock?”

So Moses cried out to the LORD, “What shall I do with this people? a little more and they will stone me!”

Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you

Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time Year

The LORD said to Moses,

“Speak to the whole Israelite community and tell them: Be holy, for I, the LORD, your God, am holy.

“You shall not bear hatred for your brother or sister in your heart. Though you may have to reprove your fellow citizen, do not incur sin because of him.

Take no revenge and cherish no grudge against any of your people. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.”

Blessed are they who follow the law of the Lord!

Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

1st Reading – Sirach 15:15-20

If you choose you can keep the commandments, they will save you; if you trust in God, you too shall live; he has set before you fire and water to whichever you choose, stretch forth your hand.

Before man are life and death, good and evil, whichever he chooses shall be given him.

Immense is the wisdom of the Lord; he is mighty in power, and all-seeing.

The eyes of God are on those who fear him; he understands man’s every deed.

Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, he will prepare your way before you
