Cotabato City among country's most business friendly cities

COTABATO CITY – The city of Cotabato now prides itself as one of
the three most Business Friendly City by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and
Industry (PCCI).

Being in the top three and finalist is already an honor,” Mayor
Japal Guiani Jr said.

Out of the country’s 157 cities, three were chosen as finalists
after it qualified in various categories. Aside from Cotabato, also in the
final list of most business friendly city are San Fernando and Calamba cities.

Noche Buena products still within SRP

KORONADAL
CITY - The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in South Cotabato has assured
prices of Noche Buena” items in the province are still within the suggested
retail prices (SRP).

Flora
Gabunales, DTI South Cotabato provincial director, said increase in noche buena
prices are only minimal and cannot affect the consumers.

DTI-DOE lead Consumer Welfare Month celebration

KORONADAL
CITY - The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-12) and Department of Energy
(DOE) led government agencies in Region 12in the celebration of Consumer Welfare
Month (CWM) this October with a series of activities highlighting consumer
rights.

Observe
during the whole month of October, the celebration was done by virtue of Presidential
Decree No. 1098, where consumers’ rights are highlighted and disseminated.

Brass producers get aid from DTI

COTABATO
CITY - A poorly equipped group producing traditional
exportable brassware out of scrap bronze is the latest beneficiary of
the government’s trade empowerment intervention Shared Service Facility
(SSF). The
office of the Department of Trade and Industry in Cotabato City on
Wednesday provided the production center in Kalangangan District here of
the Cotabato Brassware Association (CBA) with P177, 776 - worth of SSF equipment to boost the group’s productivity. The

Koronadal investments rising to record high

KORONADAL CITY
- Since Marbel became Koronadal City and eventually the regional center of
governance in Region 12, investments in this southern part of Mindanao
continuously increased, especially in the last three years, Mayor Peter Miguel said.

Speaking
during his State of the City Address (SOCA), Mayor Miguel said the number of
registered businesses rose from 2,877 to 8,547 or 197 percent in the last three
years.

While the
number of employment increased from 934 to 41,159 or 4,307 percent, he added.

AMRECO questions emergency powers as Luzon power shortage looms

DAVAO CITY (Oct 3) -An officer of the Association of Mindanao Rural Electric Cooperatives (AMRECO) questioned the move of the Department of Energy in seeking emergency powers for the president due to the looming power shortage in Luzon.Sergio Dagooc, president of the AMRECO said the power crisis has been experienced in Mindanao for the past five years and no recommendation to that effect has been sought to ease the island’s power situation.He said he could hardly get satisfactory answer to this question.

NorCot coop office launches radio program to reach more clients

KIDAPAWAN CITY
– All is set for the launching of a radio program over Radyo Bida Kidapawan
that will highlight activities of the Cooperative Month this October.

Believing in
the power of radio to reach bigger audience, Dr. Samuel Aquino, head of North
Cotabato provincial Cooperative Development Authority, said the 30-minute radio
program comes every 11 to 11:30 am starting today, October 2. Succeeding programs will air on October 9, 16
and 23.

ARMM will have its biggest budget in 2015

COTABATO CITY (Sept. 23)— Since it was created in 1990, the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) will have its biggest ever budget allocation next year.Regional Gov. Mujiv Hataman on Wednesday said the region has successfully defended its P24.299 billion budget for 2015.He said thebudget was in anticipation of the passage of the Bangsamoro Basic Law and its eventual approval by its constituents in a plebiscite next year.The draft law, once approved, will replace the current ARMM government.
