Marine killed, 4 hurt in Dawlah roadside bombing

MAGUINDANAO --- A Marine was killed while four others were injured late Friday when a bomb hit their vehicle while en route to a secluded area to reinforce Army troops fighting Dawlah Islamiya bandits.

The fatality, identified only as Private Angot, belonged to the Navy’s 5th Marine Battalion under the 1st Marine Brigade securing neighboring towns in the border of Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur provinces.

Authorities foil NPA South Cotabato bombing plot

COTABATO CITY --- A joint Army-police team killed Wednesday two New People’s Army guerillas carrying four home-made bombs they were to set off somewhere in South Cotabato province.

The slain siblings Jeoffrey and Amen Nilong were killed in an encounter with police personnel and members of the Army’s 5th Special Forces Battalion in Barangay Lamsugod in Surallah, South Cotabato on Wednesday morning.

2 suspected bombers killed in clash with government troops in South Cotabato

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – Two members of Dawlah Islamiyah terrorist group were neutralized by the troops of 5th Special Forces Battalion and PNP South Cotabato on September 9, 2020 in Barangay Lamsugod, Surallah, South Cotabato.

The two suspects were identified as Jeoffrey Nilong alias ‘Momoy’ and Al-Amen Nilong. “Jeoffrey Nilong’s group is responsible for the series of bombings in Maguindanao and Sultan Kudarat,” according to Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy, JTF Central Commander.

Catholic bloc wants impartial probe on sensational Kabacan carnage

COTABATO CITY --- The Catholic community in North Cotabato province appealed for an impartial probe on what seemed as a gangland-style execution of nine Moro motorists in Kabacan town Saturday.

Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo of the Diocese of Kidapawan covering Cotabato province said Tuesday he supports the call of central Mindanao sectors for an impartial investigation on the incident.

CHR-12 starts probe of Kabacan mass murder, eyes cops, EJK

COTABATO CITY --- The Commission on Human Rights in Region 12 (CHR-12) is considering the killing of nine people in Kabacan, North Cotabato as Extra Judicial Killings (EJK).

Lawyer Erlan Deluvio, CHR-12 regional director, said his office is conducting intereviews on witnesses to support the filing of charges against the perpetrators.

“When we say EJK, usually it involves law enforcement agents but it doesn’t end there, it could be the inaction, if they did nothing to the investigation or it is ineffective,” Deluvio said.

Army foils another Central Mindanao bombing attempt

MAGUINDANAO --- Army intelligence agents killed in a shootout before dawn Wednesday a bomber carrying a powerful improvised explosive device. 

The still unidentified motorcycle-riding IED courier was shot dead by personnel of the Army’s 602nd Brigade while en route to the center of Datu Montawal town in the second district of Maguindanao.

The bomber's companion driving their motorcycle had escaped. 

Jolo suicide bombing, posibleng gawa ng Egyptian na may Moroccan descent

ISANG Egyptian national na mayroong Moroccan descent ang babaeng suicide bomber na nasa likod ng pagsabog sa Jolo, Sulu.

Sinabi ito ni National Studies Expert Professor Rommel Banlaoi at ibinatay niya ang pahayag sa report na kanilang natanggap.

Ayon kay Banlaoi, maaring bahagi ng “family terrorism” ang nangyari at posibleng ang babaeng suicide bomber ay ang anak ng isang Egyptian na bomber.

Ang naganap sa Jolo kahapon ay pang limang insidente ng pambobomba na itinuro sa Egyptian nationals na nasa Sulu, ayon kay Banlaoi at posibleng magkakaugnay lahat. 

Army private from Mlang, North Cotabato among fatalities in Jolo twin bombings

COTABATO CITY - The Armed Forces of the Philippines today released the names of fatalities and wounded victims of the Jolo twin bombings Monday.

Among them is a native of Mlang, North Cotabato, Army Private James Suriaga Apolinario, a resident of Barangay Magallon.

Kill during the first bombing of an improvised bomb believed to be attached to a parked motorbike and set off using mobiel phones were Staff Sgt. Louie T Cuarteros, S/Sgt Manuelito Moma, Private Apolinario, Pvt Omair L Muksan.

BARMM gov't condemns deadly Jolo bombings

COTABATO CITY --- The Bangsamoro government has condemned the bombings on Monday in Jolo town in Sulu that killed eleven people and injured 20 others. 

Naguib Sinarimbo, local government minister of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, said BARMM Chief Minister Hadji Ahod Ebrahim has directed the regional police to identify the culprits for prosecution. 

“The BARMM leadership condemns these bombings in strongest terms. We also share with the grief of those who lost relatives in the incident,” said Sinarimbo, spokesman of the Bangsamoro regional government.

UPDATE 3: Twin blasts rock Jolo, kill 11 soldiers, civilians

ZAMBOANGA CITY--Nine people, including four soldiers, were killed in two successive bomb explosions in downtown Jolo, the capital of Sulu, where troops are continuously pursuing the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) bandits.

Military and police reports said all the deaths were related to the first explosion, which occurred in front of an eatery  around 11:53 a.m. Monday in Serrantes Street, Barangay Walled City, Jolo, Sulu.
