COTABATO CITY --- More than 300 ethnic Tedurays have abandoned their ancestral lands in Maguindanao del Norte after gunmen shot their houses with assault rifles and forced them to leave at gunpoint in an attack early Sunday.

COTABATO CITY --- Two men on a motorcycle shot dead a vacationing Army private and wounded two others in an attack at about midnight Sunday in Tacurong City in Sultan Kudarat province.

In a report to Brig. Gen. Jimili Lopez Macaraeg, director of the Police Regional Office-12, the Tacurong City Police Station identified the fatality as Pvt. Reymar Seredica Pelaez.

Pelaez, whose family resides in Barangay Buenaflor in Tacurong City, belonged to the Army’s 32^nd Infantry Battalion based in Malabang, Lanao del Sur.

COTABATO CITY --- Gunmen killed a candidate for barangay councilor and a companion in an ambush in South Upi, Maguindanao del Sur on Sunday afternoon.

The fatal ambush of Zeraphi A. Omar, a candidate for barangay councilor in Biarong, South Upi, and a companion, Parato S. Mudzol, 32, happened a day after motorcycle-riding men shot dead Leonardo Asud De Jesus, Jr., a third-termer barangay councilor in Datu Piang town in the same province.

COTABATO CITY - Authorities are bracing for a possible retaliation by the Dawlah Islamiya terror group that lost two men in a clash with members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front in Maguindanao del Sur on Monday.

The 45-minute gunfight in Barangay Mother Tuayan in Datu Hoffer, Maguindanao del Sur erupted when Dawlah Islamiya terrorists intruded into an area where MILF members reside to collect money and food from farmers.
