NDU community holds send off mass for Bishop Charlie Inzon, OMI

COTABATO CITY - The Notre Dame University community, led by university president Fr. Francis Zabala, OMI in Cotabato City on Wednesday held a send off mass for Bishop Charlie Inzon, OMI who will be going to Jolo to start his mission as leader of the flock in Jolo vicariate.

COTABATO CITY - The Notre Dame University community, led by university president Fr. Francis Zabala, OMI in Cotabato City on Wednesday held a send off mass for Bishop Charlie Inzon, OMI who will be going to Jolo to start his mission as leader of the flock in Jolo vicariate. 

 

New bishop of Jolo ordained

COTABATO CITY - An Oblate of Mary Immaculate (OMI) priest is now a bishop and will be sent to Jolo vicariate to serve the people and the Catholic faithful there after his episcopal ordination today at the Immaculate Concepcion Cathedral here.

Most Rev. Bishop Charlie M. Inzon, was ordained by Cotabato Archbishop Angelito Lampon as principal principal consecrator during subdued Eucharistic celebration due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Due to the restrictions of the IATF because of the COVID pandemic, the ceremony is not open to the public.

Fr. Charlie Inzon, OMI to be ordained bishop today

COTABATO CITY – Today is another special day for the Oblates of Mary Immaculate in the Philippines as the Catholic Church ordain Fr. Charlie M. Inzon, OMI as bishop who will take care of the flock in Jolo vicariate.

A solemn Eucharistic celebration and the rites of ordination of his Excellency Most Rev. Charlie Malapitan Inzon, OMI, DD will be aired live at 3:30 p.m. today over Radio Stations of the Notre Dame Broadcasting Corporation (NDBC) and also live on Facebook page of OMI Philippines from the Immaculate Concepcion Cathedral in Cotabato City.

Fr. Pol Yazar, OMI joins his Creator

COTABATO CITY -  A hardwoking Oblate missionary who spent most of his religious life serving the people in the island provincies of Sulu and Tawi-Tawi has joined his Creator at past midnight today, May 16, 2020. 

Father Leopoldo Yazar, OMI died in his sleep at 12.38 a.m., May 16, at Bolduc Homes in Loyola Heights, Quezon City, according to Oblate Father Amador "Taddy" Castillo, OMI.

"He will be cremated soon," Father Castillo said of Fr. Yazar, more known as "Fr. Pol, OMI." He is 66 years old.

New Jolo prelate to keep up work for peace

The new prelate of Jolo, an island in the country’s south long plagued by instability, recognized proactive peace-building as one of his pastoral priorities.

Just like his predecessors, bishop-elect Charlie Inzon said he stand committed to do everything to realize an end to armed conflict and violence in Sulu province.

“The focus would be on peace-making and peace-building to mitigate group-level violent encounters that affect other levels of peace,” he said.

Oblates lost hardworking missionary Bro. Bruno Torres, OMI

COTABATO CITY - Oblate Brother Bruno Torres, OMI has returned to his Maker on Monday following a battle with cancer of the liver. He was 80 years old.

"With great sadness, we announce the passing away of our beloved Br. Bruno Torres, OMI at the age of 80 years. He went forth from this world to the Lord today, March 30, 2020 at 11:46 AM. In your charity, please say a prayer for his eternal repose," the OMI said in a statement Monday.

2019 Jolo cathedral bombing remembered

Greetings of peace and solidarity.

Last January 27, 2019, ISIS inspired group bombed Mount Carmel Cathedral in Jolo. The twin explosions killed 26 and injured 116 Mass goers. This barbaric attack was condemned by Muslims and Christians all over the world. I was instructed by Pope Francis, “To care of all the victims. Make them feel that the Church will never abandon them. This tragedy should not destroy the harmonious relations between Muslims and Christians in the area.

OMIs honor Oblate jubilarians

This year's OMI jubilarians and the Oblates after the jubilarians' day mass in Kidapawan City.

KIDAPAWAN CITY – The Oblates of Mary Immaculate today honored 10 oblates who are celebrating their presbyteral ordination and religious profession.

A jubilarians day mass was held at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary chapel in Kidapawan City with Cotabato Archbishop Angelito Lampon, OMI as main presider and Fr. Romy Saniel as homilist.

Fr. Charlie Inzon, OMI, Oblates provincial superior, in a statement, congratulated the Jubilarians “and we thank God for the gift of their ministry and persons as Oblates of Mary Immaculate.”

OMI honors 2018 jubilarians

KIDAPAWAN CITY –The Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI) Philippine province today honored its 2018 Jubilarians in a concelebrated Eucharistic celebration with His Eminence Orlando Cardinal Quevedo, OMI, DD and OMI Superior general in attendance.

Twelve Oblate missionary priests celebrated their presbyteral ordination and religious profession this year.

The concelebrated mass was held at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Shrine andamp Retreat Center in Barangay Binoligan here.
