KIDAPAWAN CITY – A government employee and a dispatcher of vans operating in North Cotabato and Davao provinces were the latest victims of the extra-judicial killings in the province.

In Pikit town in North Cotabato, unidentified gunmen shot dead a certain Edgar Librando, 42, and a collector of the Pikit municipal treasurer’s office, past 6 a.m., Monday.

Police reports said Librando was driving his red motorcycle with license plate number YB 5910 when the suspects attacked him.   The victim sustained two gunshot wounds on his head that caused his instantaneous death.

Chief Inspector Donald Cabigas, chief of Pikit PNP, hinted land conflict as the motive behind Librando’s death.

Librando’s lot in Barangay Takepan is under the Certificate of Land Ownership Award (CLOA) and is being contested by certain groups.

However, Cabigas does not discount the possibility the killing could be work-related.  Librando worked as collector for the municipal treasury in Pikit.

Around 5 p.m., also on Monday, two suspects on board a motorcycle shot dead 42-year old Roni Boloron Doldolea, dispatcher of passenger vans operating along the Cotabato-Davao highway, while playing cards inside a carenderia along Quezon Boulevard, here.

Doldolea was hit on his head and died on the spot. Witnesses told police they were surprised to see two men approached them and without asking questions pumped bullets into the victim’s head.

After the killing, the suspects just withdrew to the southern portion of Kidapawan-Makilala highway onboard their motorcycle.

Authorities are looking at personal grudge, in relation to some family matters, as among the motives in Doldolea’s death.

Records showed that since January, at least 15 shooting incidents had transpired in North Cotabato.  None among the killings had been resolved by police, so far, reports said.
