CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao - Four members of the New People's Army (NPA) today decided to return to the fold of the law and mainstream society following a negotiation initiated by combined troops of 57th and and 33rd Infantry Battalions in Barangay Titulok, Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat.

The rebels who belonged to the Platoon Myphone of Guerilla Front 73 officially surrendered Wednesday morning in Bagumbayan, according to Capt. John Arvin Encinas.

Encinas, speaking for the 6th Infantry Division, identified the communist rebels as Beboy Flag Mek, 24; Arjohn Dang Blagan alias Arjun, 23; Osing Samandal Kuyan alias Dodong, 21; and Robert Pandat Balabagan aka Arnold, 21, all members of indigenous peoples community.

They turned over to the Army's 33rd Infantry Battalion, led by Battalion Lt. Colonel Harold Cabunoc two M-16 rifles with ammunition and one AK-47 rifle.

The surrender, Encinas said, was a result of collaboration between the military and the civil authorities in addressing the social issues that lured the Lumads to join the NPA

Major General Dela Vega, 6th ID commander, lauded the troops for the efforts to rescue the IPs from the hands of local terrorist organization.

Encinas said the four will be presented to Sultan Kudarat Gov. Pax Mangudadatu in the coming days for the processing of their livelihood assistance.
