KORONADAL CITY  – Military authorities in Sarangani arrested three ranking members of communist movement responsible in the series of attacks against bus units and multi-national firms for their refusal to pay revolutionary taxes.

Lt. Colonel Benjamin Leander, commander of the 27th Infantry Battalion, on Thursday identified the three New Peoples Army members as Jojo Calis Bulahing alias “Agot” (bunso), commander of Front Operation Command, woman political and medical officer Bandrang Yasmin, 22 and Damo Raymund, 18, NPA platoon leader of Guerilla Front 73.

They were arrested in Riverside, Barangay Kablacan, Maasin, Sarangani and seized from them were two hand grenades, a .45 cal. Pistol, two handheld radio, solar panel, assorted combat backpacks, medicine and subversive documents.

Bulahing told reporters after his arrest that his group was to carry out robbery and execution of police escorts of a passenger bus in the borders of Maitum and Kiamba in Sarangani province on May 26.

But the plot was aborted when President Duterte placed the entire island under Martial Law as an offshot of the Marawi siege.

Two police escorts of the bus were the target, he said.   “If they (cops) fight back, two things will happen,” he said.

“Either we kill them or they would kill us,” Bulahing, 29, said.

The plot also included burning of heavy equipment and attacks on business establishments that ignored demands for protection money.

Supt. Romeo Galgo Jr, speaking for Central Mindanao police office, said Bulahing has nine warrants of arrest for murder, arson and rebellion charges.

“We have prevented plots to burn buses, attacks on multi-national firms in the area and destruction or burning of company heavy equipment with their arrest,” Leander said.

The Army seized mobile phones that contained videos of NPA plots and execution of the ambush, liquidation and areas and personalities to be attacked, Leander said.
The suspects were arrested on July 30 and the Army made public their arrest when the trio was presented to media Thursday.
