CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao -- Government forces on Saturday recovered improvised explosives, high powered gun and suspected shabu in separate operations against ISIS inspired armed group in Maguindanao, the military here said.

Captain Arvin John Encinas, speaking for the 6th Infantry Division, said combined elements of 19th and 6th Infantry Battalions were conducting combat strike operations against about 20 members of ISIS inspired Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) when they found IED components and suspected shabu.

Particularly, Encinas said the illegal materials were found in the escape route of BIFF armed men in the borders of Sitio Siboloy, Barangay Kuden, Talitay and Barangay Brar, Datu Anggal Midtimbang, both in Maguindanao Saturday afternoon.

"Our troops were responding to reports by civilians about the presence of ISIS inspired local terrorist group in the area that resulted to the recovery of suspected shabu and IED component," Encinas said.
