Cotabato City gets 6 DOH Sandugo awards
COTABATO CITY – Six villages here have received the Sandugo Award from the Department of Health in the Soccsksargen region, City Mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi today said.
Three of these villages also received special recognition for achieving at least one percent blood donors in their respective total populations.
Guiani-Sayadi identified the villages with their respective chairperson as Barangay Rosary Heights 8 headed by Punong Barangay and ABC President Anthony Ross, Barangay Rosary Heights 11 with chairperson Mustapha Ismael Jr, Barangay Rosary Heights 9 chairperson Abu T. Mending, Barangay Rosary Heights Mother with Chairperson Janeth Dalagan, Barangay POblacion 9 with chairperson Mohamad Ali Mangelen and Barangay Datu Balabaran with chairperson Robinson Canaya.
Dr. Aristides Concepcion-Tan, DOH-12 regional director, led the distribution of awards during ceremonies held at The Farm convention hall, Barangay Carpenter Hills, Koronadal City.
Given special recognition were the local government units of Barangay Rosary Heights 8, Barangay Rosary Heights 11 and Barangay Poblacion 1.
The awards are given to LGUs that implement effectively the blood services program of DOH-12.
It was based on the blood-letting activities of the Cotabato City Health Office with the participation of barangay officials and other stakeholders who donated blood.
The recognized villages have active programs that promoted voluntary donations from among its constituents. The voluntary blood donation basically aims to ensure adequate supply of safe blood for transfusion those in need.
Guiani-Sayadi has repeatedly encouraged village officials to implement the DOH's National Voluntary Blood Services Program (NVBSP).
She thanked all those who participated in all bloodletting activities, those who donated blood and those who help the process of gathering blood like nurses, volunteer health workers, among others.
She vowed more awards in the next DOH Sandugo recognition program.
