Couple trader critical after highway mishap

KIDAPAWAN CITY --- Despite repeated reminders on motorists in Makilala highway in North Cotabato, other vehicle drivers remain careless, triggering highway crashes.The latest of which happened Friday night that left critically hurt a couple, Carlos Cabiles, 57 and his wife Myrna, 54, both of Barangay Talun-Talunan, Makilala, North Cotabato.The couple, according to Chief Inspector Johnny Medal, Makilala town police chief, was on board a Yamaha Crypton Motorcycle (9014-MM) from Barangay Malasila heading toward the town proper.Upon reaching Purok 16, Barangay Poblacion, the couple's motorbike was hit from behind by a Zusuki multi-cab passenger vehicle (MBS-540) driven by Alberto Labaya, 40 of Barangay Kesante. Cabiles motorbike swerved toward opposing lane and hit head on the in-coming Toyota Innova (AAG-5266), driven by Rolando Madrid, 54 of Tugbok, Mintal, Davao City.The victims were rushed to the hospital while the multi-cab and Innova were taken into police custody for further investigation.In South Cotabato, a container truck (temporary plate 120104) collided with an Isuzu dump truck (GHB-147) in the national highway in Tupi town amid drizzles Friday afternoon.At least three were reported injured.The involved vehicles are shown below from photo courtesy of Councilor Mhark Siokon.
