SURALLAH, South Cotabato -- A drug dependent here tried to outsmart police officers by swallowing two small plastic sachets of methamphetamine hyddrochloride Sunday night.

When lawmen arrived in his home due to complaint of domestic disturbances he created, Edward Mallo, 39, of Barangay Dajay, Surallah, quickly swallowed two sachets in an attempt to deny he was into illegal drug, according to Chief Inspector Joel Fuerte, Surallah town police chief.

But Mallo forgot he has three other sachets in his pocket that eventually the police recovered.

Fuerte said before the police came, Mallo's siblings have sought for police assistance after the suspect has been threatening his brothers and sisters with a knife.

He was under the influence of liquor when he threatened to harm anyone who would cross his path.

Fuerte said if Mallo had the luxury of time he would have swallowed all the five sachets of shabu.
