Engineer, 2 minors hurt in Cotabato City gun attacks
COTABATO CITY --- A key executive of a big construction firm was seriously wounded in an ambush here Monday morning, after two minors were badly hurt in a gun attack the night before.
The 49-year-old Engineer Apollo Gatchalian Algas was driving a Toyota Hilux pick-up truck on his way to his office in the city proper when he was attacked by gunmen on motorcycles.
Algas is vice president of the Compact II Construction Company, a major contractor of high-ticket infrastructure projects in Mindanao and in other regions outside.
The wounded Algas still managed to drive his way through a hospital nearby where he is now confined for treatment.
Investigators from the Cotabato City Police Office are still trying to identify his assailants and their real motive for the attack.
Two minors were shot and wounded by a gunman in an attack Sunday night in Kimpo Area here.
The victims were together in a roadside store when the suspect, armed with a .45 caliber pistol, arrived, shot them one after another and hurriedly escaped.
The two adolescents were immediately rushed to a hospital by responding barangay officials.
