Feuding Moro groups in Datu Blah Sinsuat to reconcile soon
MAGUINDANAO --- Two feuding commanders of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), one backed by group of Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) guerillas, have agreed to reconcile soon before local officials.
Captain Edmar Aycocho, chief of the Datu Blah Sinsuat municipal police, said MNLF commanders Dong Taup Ibrahim and Abdillah Parol conceded to a settlement of their rido (clan war) that Mayor Marshal Sinsuat is to broker.
Ibrahim is being backed by group of MILF members led by Abdulbayan Saludin in his fight with Parol, according to Aycocho.
The two groups repeatedly figured in violent showdowns in Sitio Bakayawan in Barangay Lapaken in the seaside Datu Blah Sinsuat in Maguindanao’s western coast that caused dislocation of villagers.
Their last encounter was on October 31, where both sides traded shots using assault rifles, sending innocent villagers running for their lives.
Aychocho said Datu Blah Sinsuat municipal officials have succeeded in disengaging both groups to pave the way for the settlement of the conflict.
Leaders of the protagonist forces and representatives from the MILF are to attend the reconciliation rite at the municipal center in Barangay Pura that the mayor is to set anytime this month, after working out the return of displaced residents to affected villages in Barangay Lapaken.
