First drone images show damages, imminent danger

KIDAPAWAN CITY - As the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) sets up its field office in Kidapawan City today to support relief and rehabilitation efforts, the first drone-generated photos taken yesterday showed the extent of the damage and the mountain-side communities which may have to be abandoned because of landslides.
Many of these communities are in the City of Kidapawan, Magpet, Tulunan and Makilala in North Cotabato and Magsaysay, Bansalan and Matanao.
Kidapawan City and Makilala are among the hardest hit by landslides because these areas are at the foot of Mt. Apo.
It is in these areas where entire communities may have to be abandoned by residents.
Today, MinDA will continue with the data gathering efforts, including the identification of communities which have not been fully reached government relief efforts.
With the support of local authorities, MinDA will also establish a database of all earthquake victims including the extent of damage they suffered from the disaster.
The data gathered will be used recommending rehabilitation plans for the earthquake affected communities to Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, the Mindanao Martial Law Administrator who has been designated by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea as the Officer-in-Charge of the government operations to help earthquake affected areas.
