MRLs gather for peace, security summit

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao –- Around 350 Muslim religious leaders from the provinces of Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, North Cotabato, and Sultan Kudarat gathered for a 3-day Summit for Peace and Security to get their consensus on how to address the current peace and security issues besetting the region.

The event started Wednesday at Alnor Convention Hall in Cotabato City.

Organized by Joint Task Force Central (JTFC) led by Major General Arnel B Dela Vega, 6th Infantry Division commander, participated by pre-selected Muslim religious leaders from the 55 municipalities within the Joint Area of Operation, PNP counterparts, selected organic officers and facilitators from the academe anchored on the theme, “Unity and Harmony Amidst Diversity Towards Peace, Security, Development and Prosperity.”

Dela Vega stressed that this activity needs to engage the Muslim religious leaders as they have a crucial roles in influencing the people demonstrated by their capability to mobilize large segments of the population.

Governor Esmael "Toto" Mangudadatu, also expressed his commitment of support and reminded the participants to take the lead in teaching the community as the indispensable partner in nation building.
