KIDAPAWAN CITY -- More than 1,000 individuals have availed of the free pre-employment orientation seminar conducted byPublic Employment Service office (PESO) here, official said today.PESO-Kidapawan head Herminia Infanta said the number of those who availed of the program covered the period January to November this year.She said the program aims to help job hunters effective techniques in finding right job, processing of documentary requirements, especially those eyeing overseas works. Participants were also trained on how to respond face to face interviews, resume preparation, among others. (DXND) KORONADAL CITY - About 132 members of informal sectors in Banga, South Cotabatohave received a P700,000 livelihood package from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-12), officials said.DOLE 12 OIC Regional Director Albert Gutib the recipients that included persons with disabilities and out of school youth have received Kabuhayan Starter Kits.Other beneficiaries include senior citizens, jobless and mothers. The starter kids are for Auto Repair Shop, Welding Shop, Furniture Shop, Vulcanizing Shop, among others.TheWeaving Project ng Tribal Women Organization in Barangay Lamba, also in Banga have received P500 livelihood assistance funds. (DXOM) BANGA, South Cotabato - Police arrested here two drug personalities in separate anti-drug operation over the weekend.Chief Inspector Jardi Month Sibal, town police chief, said Nexon Dequina, town's number 1 in the druglist was arrested in Barangay Poblacion. Eight sachets of shabu, a handgunand marked money,were seized from him.Jun Esteva, 29, also a drug suspect, was arrested in separate operation in Barangay Punong Grande. Four sachets were seized from him. Esteva was also wanted for rape charges. (DXOM) KORONADAL CITY - The National Nutrition Council (NNC) in Region 12, today noted low consumption rate of iodized salt among the region's population.This was based on a monitoring report by NNC's Bantay Asin Task Force. In its recent meeting, NNC-12 Director Arceli Latonio has urged the public to prioritize the use of iodized salt because ot its nutrient and iodine contents as compared to ordinary salts.Latonio appealed to village officials and the public in general not to subscribe to asin-takal because of lack of iodine content.
