NORTH COTABATO --- Eighteen former New People’s Army guerillas received on Thursday P1.1 million worth of cash assistance for livelihood projects.

The amount was released to the 18 Beneficiaries during Thursday’s meeting of the North Cotabato inter-agency provincial peace and order council.

The former rebels yielded in batches in recent months and pledged allegiance to the Philippine flag through the intercession of the Army’s 39th Infantry Battalion and emissaries of the provincial government.

The livelihood assistance was facilitated by North Cotabato Gov. Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza, presiding chairperson of the provincial peace and order council.

The socio-economic intervention is part of the government’s Comprehensive Localized Integration Program meant to hasten the re-introduction to mainstream society of former NPAs.

The office of Taliño-Mendoza is actively supporting the implementation of CLIP in North Cotabato.
