PDEA-BARMM, Marines seize P3.4-M worth of shabu, nab peddler in Lanao
COTABATO CITY – At least P3.4 million worth of suspected shabu were seized from a big time drug peddler during joint law enforcement operation in Malabang, Lanao del Sur on Wednesday afternoon.
Director Juvenal Azurin of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM) identified the arrested peddler as Mohammad Timan alias “Orak,” a resident of Paridi-Kalimudan, Madalum, Lanao del Sur.
Joint elements of PDEA-BARMM, Philippine Marines and Malabang police conducted the buy bust operation against Timan in Barangay BPS, just across the Calimoden Village Elementary School at 4 p.m.
“We placed Timan under surveillance for several months and sent agents to confirm his illegal activities,” Azurin said, adding that the suspect who did not resist arrest during the operation was a high value target.
Seized from him were five huge sachets of suspected shabu, “boodle money” (fake P1,000 bill) and shabu paraphernalia.
Timan is detained at the PDEA-BARMM custodial center at PC Hill, Cotabato City while charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 are being prepared against him. (Edwin O. Fernandez)
