KIDAPAWAN CITY  – The National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) in Southern Mindanao Region has ordered the indemnification of a civilian wounded during the New Peoples’ Army (NPA) attacks against the Lapanday Food Corporation (LFC) in Davao City.

Larry Buenafe suffered blast wounds when hit by an improvised explosive device (IED) after the rebels attacked the LFC box and plastic plants in Barangay Mandug, Davao City.

Rubi Del Mundo, spokesperson for the NDFP-SMR, said they have requested third party facilitators from the Church, medical practitioners, civil libertarians, and other advocates to expedite the public dispensation of indemnification of Buenafe, the soonest possible time.

“We, at the NDF-SMR, deeply apologize to the family of Mr. Buenafe and to the public for this occurrence,” said Del Mundo.

Del Mundo has clarified the order of indemnification is an exercise of a “revolutionary political authority”.

The order is also in compliance with the Geneva Conventions, the Comprehensive Agreement on Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law (CARHRIHL), the NDFP Declaration of Undertaking to Apply the Geneva Conventions of 1949 and the Protocol I of 1977, among others.

On April 29, the NPAs attacked the Lapanday Foods Corporation in Davao City, torched equipment, and seized several firearms from the company's security guards.

The attack, according to NDFP, is part of what they called “revolutionary justice.”
