KORONADAL CITY  -- Senior Supt. Jose Briones, currently Deputy Regional Director for Administration (DRDA) of Police Regional Office 12 based in Gen. Santos City was promoted by President Duterte to a star rank.

Briones, former South Cotabato and North Cotabato police provincial director before he was named PRO-12 DRDA in July last year, was promoted along with three other police senior superintendents.

The rank of Chief Superintendent is equivalent to the rank of Brigadier General in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

PNP chief Director General Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa led the conferment of rank ceremony Thursday for the newly-promoted officers.

Dela Rosa administered the oath to the four new police generals, including PNP Public Information Office (PIO) chief and spokesman Chief Supt. Dionardo Carlos.

Aside from Carlos and Briones, also promoted were Chief Supt. Lito Petallano of the PRO5 (Bicol Region) and Chief Supt. Debold Sinas. (PNA)
