San Miguel Beer's newest import made the Beermen's grand slam bid alive after he impressed the crowd and the coaching staff of his first game performance.

Terrence Watson scored 28 points, 17 rebounds and four assists to lead SMC franchise on his very first game, coming on Friday and had a one-day practice with SMB squad.

And the team that it mauled from the opening salvo was the PBA's most popular team - Barangay Ginebra.

Today's game, a 107-103 SMB victory in the PBA Governor's Cup, also ended Ginebra's seven game winning streak.

Watson was SMB's third import this conference. He replaced the second import Terik Bridgeman.

But it was not all Watson's game because the locals also stepped up for the SMB squad.

Arwind Santos scored 23 points, most of them made when the Kings started a rally from 25 points down. Chris Ross had 20 points. Alex Cabagnot made a basket when the Kings came to just about 6 points 54 seconds in the homestretch.

Chriss Ross also slowed down King's import Justin Brownlee to 7-of-18 shooting percentage from the field.

The scores:

SAN MIGUEL 107 – Watson 28, Santos 23, Ross 20, Cabagnot 16, Fajardo 10, Lassiter 7, Rosser 3, Heruela 0, De Ocampo 0.

GINEBRA 103 – J. Aguilar 18, Tenorio 17, Slaughter 16, Brownlee 14, Ferrer 11, Thompson 7, Caguioa 3, Mercado 2, R. Aguilar 0, Taha 0.

Quarters: 30-16, 56-33, 87-65, 107-103.
