Son kills own father using machete in South Cotabato town
KORONADAL CITY - Police investigators in Norala Police station are on standby to arrest a hacking incident suspect who is now confined at Norala District Hospital.
Norala Chief of Police Maj. Nathaniel Panaguiton identified the suspect as Angelo Futolan, 30 years old and the victim as Isagani Futolan, 56 years old, both residents of Purok Sto. Nino, Barangay BS Aquino on the said town.
According to Panaguiton's report, the suspect was confronted by his father which resulted to an arguement. The incident led the suspect to hack his own father using a "bolo."
The victim managed to get his homemade 12-gauge shotgun inside their room and shot the suspect. The victim sustained several hack wounds on different parts of his body while the suspect sustained a gun shot wound in his abdomen.
Both were immediately brought to Norala District Hospital where the victim was declared dead on arrival by doctors.
According to Futolan family, the suspect is suffering from a mental disorder. Police recovered the homemade shotgun used by the victim with its one fired empty shell and the "Bolo" used by the suspect.
