officials on July 1 at the Tacurong City Disaster Risk Reduction Management
Center. Miguel, the festival director, conducted the orientation with Festival Event Manager Elric Batilaran and Festival
Secretariat Head Judith Amido.
Miguel assured the readiness of Koronadal in accommodating cultural
performers from twelve countries in Asia and Europe. The public will witness
world-class presentations from Armenia, Slovenia, Russia, Sri Lanka, Mexico,
Turkey, Poland, Japan, Indonesia, Chinese Taipei, India, and Thailand.
The festival organizers also arranged tours for the international
participants. They will visit and experience Region XII’s eco-tourism destinations
including Tacurong’s Baras Bird Sanctuary,” said Miguel.
Aside from the excitement that guest countries will bring,
LGU-Koronadal assured that one of the highlights of the Festival is its very
own cultural heritage. Pyesta Kolon Datal highlights the unique and distinct
culture of our Indigenous People, the B'laans and we want to share it with the
rest of the world,” affirmed Miguel. A
B’laan Cultural Showcase will be held on August 18.
For the benefit of those who cannot make it to Koronadal on August
9-18, its LGU made sure that international cultural performers get to visit
neighboring towns. They will not just dance, they will interact with the crowd
and even teach dance steps or give tokens,” Miguel said.
According to Miguel, LGU-Koronadal has scheduled lecture-demos of two
guest countries in Tacurong City. Tacurongnons will definitely enjoy this
experience,” said Montilla upon hearing the announcement.
The 'Pyesta Kolon Datal' was made possible through the efforts of LGU-Koronadal
to link with the Conseil International Des Organisations De Festivals De
Folklore Et D’arts Tradionnels or CIOFF. Through this initiative, the
Philippines is now an active associate member country of CIOFF.
Pyesta Kolon Datal is also in time for the celebration of Koronadal’s
