Village councilman, 2 others slain in NoCot gun attack

PIKIT, North Cotabato – An incumbent village councilor and two others were killed when unidentified gunmen sprayed them with bullets while in a roadside drinking session in Barangay Takepan here Saturday night.

Police Capt. Mautin Pangandigan, Pikit town police chief, said in a radio interview that the victims were having drinking session in Sitio Vilo, Barangay Takepan, Pikit, North Cotabato when the gunman opened fire at 6:45 p.m.

Pangandigan identified the fatalities as 53-year-old Councilor Andrew Lumibao who was former Takepan village chairperson, Robert Ayona, Lumibao’s cousin and Mike Arroyo, a member of the Takepan Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT).

Maugan Mosaid, municipal administrator, said police are looking at personal grudge as the possible motive in the shooting incident.

Mosaid called on the family to reveal to police if Lumibao has known enemies or has been receiving death threats prior to the shooting.

Investigation continues.
