Marawi, no doubt, is a sacred sanctuary;

Abode of the brave, home to Maranaws foreigners never enslaved;

Blessed with a lake, a tribal icon so powerful from them no one can ever take;

Marawi is territory, whose honor its people will never sully;

In centuries gone, people there in religion and tenets of peace stood together as one;

Blood was spilt when Spaniards, Americans and Japanese they resisted in wars they waged to show rage;

Then one day, militants came to experiment on their religion, known for spiritual relevance that for them is beyond question;

The religious adventurism brought them no gain, only destruction and pain;

Forced out of the land, they left with hearts broken, pride as a nation for a while stolen;

Still mighty despite the ordeal, they plan to pick up the pieces and bounce back stronger, rise more brilliant and bolder;

Maranaws are resilient, in trials never will they be subservient;

Soon someday, the culprits will vanish away and never will Marawi be ravaged again by such a deadly foray.
