Young Gilas holds off taller Iraqis in Jones Cup to stay alive

Gilas Pilipinas remained in the medal hunt of the 39th Jones Cup in Taipei after it bombarded Iraq with slam dunks and three-point baskets 84-75.  

The tall and dirty players were no match to the national’s quick and speed where coach Chot Reyes recognizing his wards remarkable improvement.  

Reyes said the Gilas played better today than against South Korea. 

Against Iraq, Gilas connected 7-for-21 clip against the Iraqis.
 

At 4-2, Gilas stayed alive in the medal hunt after Canada 150 beat Koreans earlier today to take 5-1 solo lead.  

From the start, the Iraqis played dirty, sending some Gilas players losing concentration that angered Reyes.
