Go favors incentives for fully vaccinated to fight hesitancy

MANILA - Senator and Chair of the Senate Committee on Health Christopher “Bong” Go has reiterated his support to proposals to provide incentives to fully vaccinated individuals in order to encourage more Filipinos, especially those still hesitant, to get their COVID-19 shots.

Election officer, daughter hurt in Basilan ambush

COTABATO CITY ---  Gunmen seriously wounded the election officer of Lantawan town in Basilan and his daughter in an ambush Monday night in Isabela City in the island province.

Aknam Hashim his eldest daughter were together in a car when they were attacked by gunmen positioned at one side of the busy Rizal Avenue in Isabela City in Basilan, reports from the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region and the military’s Western Mindanao Command said.

Nuisance bets, final list of candidates known by December

MANILA – Not all the 97 aspirants for president, 28 for vice president, and 175 for senators who filed their certificates of candidacy (COCs) will make it to the official ballot for the May 9, 2022 polls.

The same applies to local candidates and 270 party-list groups that submitted Certificates of Nomination and Acceptance during the October 1 to 8 filing period.

Thus, said Commission on Elections (Comelec) spokesperson James Jimenez, in a radio interview on Saturday, adding that COCs will undergo strict scrutiny to determine the final list of candidates.

MILF’s UBJP fields mayoral bet vs. Cotabato City reelectionist mayor

COTABATO CITY  – A last-termer councilor here will seek the mayoralty post with the backing of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) political party – the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP).

Former Councilor Mohammad Bruce Matabalao, a journalist turned politician, filed his COC for mayor Friday to challenge reelectionist Atty. Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi.

Matabalao has served the city legislative body for three consecutive terms and resigned early this year to work as director of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA).

Maguindanao vice mayoral aspirant collapses, dies

COTABATO CITY – A lady vice mayoral aspirant in Maguindanao on her way to the Commission on Elections office in Datu Piang town has collapsed and eventually died before reaching a hospital Thursday.

Town Mayor Victor Samama said last termer Sangguniang Bayan member Bai Diana Mantawil Mokalid was on her way to his house for an assembly before going to the Comelec office to file their certificates of candidacy when she collapsed.

She and other party members are to gather in the house of Mayor Samama before they will proceed to the Comelec at about 10 a.m.

Mangudadatus file COC, face each other for Maguindanao's top post

COTABATO CITY – Two political clan members of the Mangudadatus will be battling it out in the Maguindanao gubernatorial race.

On Thursday morning, Governor Bai Mariam Sangki-Mangudadatu, who is seeking her second term as provincial executive, has filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) before Provincial Election Supervisor Udtog Tago at his office inside the Bangsamoro government center here.

The governor was accompanied by her husband, Sultan Kudarat Gov. Suharto “Teng” Mangudadatu, and several supporters.

Governors support Sen. Bong Go’s candidacy for vice president

May mga iilan ring lumapit para magpa-picture sa kanya at in-entertain rin naman niya.

Mabilis lang kami dun at wala rin kaming binili bukod sa cookies dahil gusto lang talaga ni Pangulo na mag-ikot at maglakad-lakad.

Admin candidates file COCs for posts in peaceful DBS town

COTABATO CITY ---- The administration candidates for positions in the peaceful Datu Blah Sinsuat town filed their certificates of candidacy Tuesday under the banner of the United Bangsamoro Justice Party.

The slate is led by reelectionist Datu Blah Sinsuat Mayor Marshall Sinsuat and spouse, Raida Tomawis-Sinsuat, who is seeking a second term as vice mayor.
