3 SOCCSKSARGEN provinces to suffer brunt of drought
KORONADAL CITY -- Three provinces in Central Mindanao Region, also known as SOCCSKSARGEN region, stand to experience stronger El Nino phenomenon, the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC)today said.Minda Morante, Office of Civil Defense (OCD)regional director andRDRRMC chairperson, identified the provinces asSouth Cotabato, Sarangani at Sultan Kudarat.The three provinces were among the 21 provinces listed by the national disaster risk reduction and management council that willexperience intense heatEl Nino phenomenon is expected to hit the country next month and will last until first quarter of 2016.Morente cited the advisory fromPAGASA-DOST and NDRRMCthat Sultan Kudarat will experience the least rainfall.The RDRRMC has convened concerned government agencies as parts of its preparation to cushion the impact of the feared El Nino phenomenon.
