Breakingand Grilled fish, macaroni down 12 in Maguindanano

SULTAN KUDARAT,
Maguindanao – A half-cooked grilled fish and macaroni salad on Sunday
downed more than a dozen person during a family outing here.

All the victims
were rushed to Cotabato Sanitarium Hospital in Barangay Bulalo, Sultan Kudarat,
Maguindano after eating sinugbang isda” and macaroni salad Sunday afternoon.

Alice Upi, one of
the victims, told NDBCNews online thatthe family had just taken for lunch grilled fish and salad
when almost simultaneously members complained of abdominal pain and dizziness.

After eating we
resume swimming at a beach resort when many complained of severe stomach ache,”
she added.

Six of the victims
were children of Shukra Adam who said three of her children had experienced
fever aside from loose bowel movement.

I am not sure
which between the grilled fish and macaroni triggered stomach pain and loose bowel movement,” Adam said in Filipino.

Dr. Halima Mokamad
Romancap, Cotabato Sanitarium attending physician, said aboratory tests showed
the victims’ have amoebiasis.

We are trying to
stabilize their condition, we need to rehydrate them,” Romancap said on Sunday
night.

Romancap said the
patients said they all of them feasted on the same food – the grilled fish and
macaroni.

We have no samples
of the food because they disposed off the food after suffering abdominal pain,”
she said. But since they all ate the same food, we can only surmise that was
