Cotabato City ex-village chief shot dead

COTABATO CITY - Unidentified motorcycle riding gunmen shot dead Friday afternoon a former village chairman herewhile he was driving his vehicle along Sinsuat Avenue, police said.Speaking over DXMS Radyo Bida,Senior Supt. Rex Anongos, Cotabato City police officer director, said Anwar Lucas, former chair of Barangay Rosary Heights 10 succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds in the body.Anongos said the shooting occurred at past 5 p.m.amid heavy down pour and heavy traffic along Sinsuat Avenue, particularlynear the Cotabato City National High School main campus.No one has claimed responsibility.The shooting of Lucas came a week after unidentified gunmen shot and seriously wounded Aniceto Rasalan, secretary of Cotabato City Mayor Japal Guiani Jr.Anongos said police investigators remained clueless on the Lucas murder and sought the help of anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest of the suspects.On August 29, 2013, Lucas survived a grenade attack on his home in RH-10.Former Cotabato City Mayor Muslimin Sema condemned the killing of Lucas, his ally, and urged the local police to put a stop to the series of shooting incidents in the city.
