DOH-12 issues advisories on effects of haze to humans
KORONADAL CITY- Five days have passed but the haze continues to blanket huge part of Mindanao, officials said.With the situation far from over, the Department of Health in Central Mindanao has issued advisories to protect public's health amid the haze.The haze, which weather bureau said isman-made atmospheric phenomenon,carry with it pollutants that may be harmful to humans, according to Dr. Francisco Mateo, DOH-12assistant regional director.He said asthma, serious coughs and other respiratory related illnessescan be acquired by inhaling the polluted air so the public is advised to wear masks to protect themselves. However,Mateo said the haze is still tolerable but he advised the public to drink plenty of water an juice to maintain or improveresistance.The Department of Environment and Natural Resources Environmental Management Bureau has been conducting air quality monitoring in Koronadal City and South Cotabato.The result, according to DENR-EMB monitoring released at 10 a.m. Thursday showed the results belowandAir Quality Discriptorand FairHealth Concernsand None
