DOS cops recover carnapped Toyota Fortuner

COTABATO CITY -- Alert police operatives recoveredMonday a carnapped Toyota Fortuner owned by a business in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguidnanao.Senior Inspector Lindsy Sinsuat, DOS town police chief,said in a phone interview that the vehicle was recovered by responding operatives of the Police Public Safety Battalion in Barangay Tamontaka, Cotabato City.According to Hashim Salik, owner of the vehicle and resident of Barangay Makir, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao, he just arrived from Gen. Santos City and had a stop over along a highwayin Barangay Makir.He alighted from the vehicle, leaving its engine still running, to hand over a package to a relative whose house was beside the highway.But the suspect, identified as Abdulsalam Guiamelon, a resident of Barangay Dalican, took the driver seat and sped away. As Guiamelon was speeding toward Cotabato City, police road blocks were put up but he rammed the blockade and speed toward Barangay Balabaran, also in Cotabato City. He abandoned the Fortuner but was later arrested by policemen, Sinsuat said.Sinsuat said Guiamelon appeared to be under the influence of illegal drugs because he answers differently to a different question.Guiamaelon admitted he was not in his right senses when he took the Fortuner hoping to make money out of it since he plans to work abroad.
