Fuentes files mineral theft charges vs. T'boli village chair
KORONADAL CITY- South Cotabato Gov. Daisy Avance Fuentes has filed charges of theft of minerals against a village chair of T'boli, South Cotabato.Documents from the Provincial Environment and Management Office (PEMO) showed that Nyo Bong, village chair of Barangay Mongokayo, T'boli, south Cotabato, operates a mining areaSitio Fande and Sitio Motokling, both in the samevillage.DXOM-AM Radyo Bida Koronadal reported that the illegal mining sitewas discovered last July 19 after PEMO received a report about Bong's mining activities.PEMO personnel and representatives from T'boli Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) with Army troops went to the mining site to confirm the report.The team recovered mining equipment and workers told environment officials that Bong told them he has a small scale mining permit issued by the local government.Bong reportedly admitted to Fuentes his illegal activities and sought forgiveness.Efforts to reach Bong for comments proved futile.
