Gunman robs 3 Magelco employees of P1.6-M cash

COTABATO CITY – Unidentified gunman on Thursday robbed
employees of Maguindanao Electric Cooperative (Magelco) of P1.6 million worth of
collections in Datu Odin Sinsuat (DOS), Maguindanao, police said.

Senior Insp. Lindsy Sinsuat, Datu Odin police station
chief, said the incident happened at past 3:30 p.m. in Sitio Katalungan,
Barangay Datu Pinguiaman,DOS.

He said the victims, Hanna Malang, 26, Magelco cashier,
Basit Benito, 52, security guard and Gerome Romuar, 39, Magelco driver, were on
board a Toyota Hi-Lux D4D van heading to Magelco office when the incident

Sinsuat said his office received
information about the robbery-hold-up from an unknown caller.
When they responded and arrived at the
crime scene, the lone suspect has already escaped.

The victims had come from various
sub-offices of Magelco in Maguindanao where they gathered the collection money.

Only three of them in the van and they were unaware of the 4th man in the vehicle. They were really unaware of the 4th man who believed to have hidden under the back seat of the vehicle, Sinsuat said.Along the highway, a man armed with
cal. 45 pistol declared hold-up while the vehicle was travelling.

Quoting a statement from the victims,
Sinsuat said they did not notice the man was already inside the van. How the suspect managed to get inside
remained a puzzle to the victims and the investigators, Sinsuat said.

Aside from hand gun, the suspect was
also armed” with a duct tape he used in tying the hands of the three victims
then escaped.
