Hailstorm hits part of Koronadal City
KORONADAL CITY
- Hailstorm has occurred in parts of Barnagay San Roque, Koronadal City on
Tuesday afternoon following sudden rain with strong winds, residents said.
Ice as big as mongo
beans reportedly rained in Purok Manabe, Barangay San Roque at past 3 p.m with
blowing winds that thrown off ceilings of some houses made of light materials,
DXOM-AM Radyo Bida reported today.
Heavy rains,
thunderstorms and strong winds also wiped down banana trees of Lapanday Food
Corporation and corn fields in the village.
Norlyn Canja, a
resident of Purok Manabe, told DXOM-AM Radyo Bida that she and her children
were lucky enough to move to a warehouse nearby before the winds destroyed her
home.
Village
officials are still determining the extent of damages brought about by the phenomenon.

PAG-ASA said thunderstorms
are normal events during the dry season. It was because of too much heat, which
causes water to evaporate at such a fast rate.
If
accumulated, this may result to the formation of cumulo-nimbus clouds which
cause the rains, wind and thunder.
It is not the
first time hail stones are found in South Cotabato and the country. Last year,
hailstorms occurred in Polomolok, Banga and Surallah, all in South Cotabato. sand//fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/12241192_1202594443100304_783055683779415530_n.jpg?oh=bb45b516d048f2732056b265382458eeandampoe=56AF1D71andamp__gda__=1459010505_a0b0f5f13e6bd6dbe449a756142de415
