ITCZ to bring rains over the Visayas, Mindanao for 3 days
MANILA (PNA) -- Cloudy skies with rains are expected in most parts of the Visayas and Mindanao in the next three days due to an Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday.PAGASA weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said the ITCZ affecting the Visayas and Mindanao, which is the thick clouds coming from the south of Asia, is considered a breeding ground for low-pressure areas (LPAs) or potential cyclones. He said the presence of the ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms over the Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao and Zamboanga Peninsula. The rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will have fair weather or partly cloudy to cloudy skies except for isolated thunderstorms.Aurelio said the weather agency continues to monitor a low-pressure area outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility which is expected to enter the country by Tuesday or Wednesday. He said the LPA has a high chance to intensify into a tropical cyclone since it is in the sea.
