Kidapawan's womanizing cop jailed for 8 years

KIDAPAWAN CITY - A police officer here was sentenced to three to eight years imprisonment for womanizing and violation of RA 9262, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said in a statement.DOJ identified the police as SPO2 Ricardo Cana.Justice Sec. Leila de Lima said Kidapawan Regional Trial Court 17 Judge Arvin Balagot sentenced Cana after he was found guilty of violating Republic Act 9262 or theAnti Violence Against Women and Children Act of 2004.The court also ordered Cana to pay P100,000 to his wife over and above the P200,000 damages.The wife, with the help of Kidapawan prosecutor's office,filed a case of Marital Infidelity against Cana after she found him to have another woman beside her. The affair started in 1995.Following the court decision, De Lima reminded government servants, including police officers, to live according to highest moral standards.
