Koronadal PNP assures security for Batang Pinoy delegates

KORONADAL
CITY – Police authorities here assured today the public of ample
personnel to protect delegates of the Mindanao leg of Batang Pinoy Games
Koronadal City is hosting.
Superintendent
Nestor Salcedo, Koronadal City police chief, said all billeting quarters of
athletes from all over Mindanao have been secured with uniformed and
non-uniformed police officers providing 24/7 security.

At
playing venues, police officers and police multipliers have been deployed this

Batang
Pinoy Games – Mindanao leg will officially commence tomorrow, Saturday, until
October 29.Salcedo
said aside from regular police personnel, the Army’s 27th Infantry
Battalion have deployed personnel, including bomb sniffing dogs, in billeting
quarters, playing venues and entry and exit points of Koronadal.
”We
foresee a peaceful and fruitful Batang Pinoy Games,” Salcedo said, adding that Barangay
Peacekeeping Action Team (BPATs) will provide augmentation to police and
military personnel.Salcedo
all athlete delegation heads have direct communication line with the police for
quick response with situation calls for it.
Salcedo
then appealed to the public to immediately alert the police about suspicious
persons or things left unattended so that appropriate and quick action can be
taken.
Close
to 5,000 delegates from all over Mindanao are expected to be in Koronadal City,
the capital of South Cotabato which recently hosted a successful International
Folklore Festival with 10 countries participating.
Already in
town ahead of opening program are athletes from Tawi-tawi, Zamboanga Sibugay,
South Cotabato, at General Santos City.
Expected to arrive today are delegate from Cagayan de Oro, Bukidnon,
Davao region, according to Atty. Jay Alano, Philippine Sports Commission project
director.
