Mamasapano children get aid from DXMS, DXOL outreach project
MAMASAPANO, Maguindanao -- About 600 pupils from Hadji Salik Elementary School and High School in the village of Tukanalipao here have received school supplies from DXOL-Happy FM and DXMS-AM Radyo Bida Sunday. Dubbed as Bida Eskwela, Mag-share para Happy Ka, the outreach activity of the Notre Dame Broadcasting Corporation was carried out in partnership with 40th Infantry Battalion and Globe Telecom-Cotabato City. The project, according to Jeff Mendez of DXMS, was part of psycho-social intervention for children following the infamous Mamasapano incident that displaced the civilians due to skirmishes involving government forces and Moro armed groups in January. Aside from school bags complete with notebooks and other school supplies, the children were recipients of a feeding program after the distribution of assistance. Mendez said the project was also in partnership with the ARMM-HEART, Department of Education and other donors who were listeners of DXMS and DXOL Happy FM. Both elementary and high school have new buildings but school administrators admitted it still needs arm chairs, learning materials and additional teachers which DepEd-ARMM is looking into. Mendez lauded the listeners-donors for sharing what they have for the children of Tukanalipao, Mamasapano, Maguindanao.
