Marbel bishop emeritus Gutierrez dies
KORONADAL CITY – Bishop Emeritus Dinualdo Gutierrez of Marbel diocese has passed
away Sunday morning at a hospital in Gen. Santos City, the diocese announced
today.
He was 79 years
old.
It is with
great sadness that I announce the death of Most Rev. Dinualdo Gutierrez,
Bishop-Emeritus of Marbel. He passed away 5:03 AM, February 10, 2019, at the
Gen. Santos Doctors' Hospital, Marbel Bishop Allan Casicas said in a statement. Please pray for the repose of his souls, he added.Gutierrez, who
would have turned 80 on February 20, died of lingering illness.
Gutierrez,
former head of the Church’s National Secretariat for Social Action (Nassa), served
the Marbel diocese for 35 years.
He retired
when he reached 75 but stayed on until his replace, Bishop Casicas, was
appointed in April last year. The diocese is
