Mlang village officials rescue Eagle, Musang
MLANG, North Cotabato - Village officials of a remote village here have turned over a rescued Eagle and two Musang found in a rubber plantation Thursday.Village chair Johnrey Alingasabrought the matured Eagle and two Musang to Municipal Tourism Officer Harold Santillan. Santillan described the Eagle as healthy andaggressive while the Musangs were tame. Alingasa said the endangered animals were found by a rubber tapper in Barangay New Consolacion after they fell from the trees. In March and May, three serpent Eagles were also found in Mlang, near the Liguasan marshlan and turned over to local officials.The people of Mlang have been fully aware that they should not harm endangered animals found in their surroundings, according to Mayor Lito Pinol. A crocodile, the second largest reptile captured next to Lolong in Agusan,was also rescued in Mlang, North Cotabato last year. It was later sent back to the wild by environment officials.
