Replica of Magellan's cross now in Kidapawan diocese
KIDAPAWAN CITY - Parishioners in the Diocese of Kidapawan flocked to theOur Lady Mediatrix of all Grace Cathedralto view the 496 year old replica of Magellan's CrossWednesday.The replica was on display infront of the altar to be seen by all those who wanted to view it.Ferdinand Magellan carried a cross when his group arrived in the Philippines in 15th century.Father Eduard Bacus,DCK, parochial vicar of M’lang parish, said Magellan brought Christianity in the Philippines.Parishioners welceomed theCross' pilgrimage since ticame to Kidapawan Dicoese during the month of October, the Rosary Month.Bacus said the replica of Magellan's cross is being toured around the country to remind Catholic faithful that the cross symbolizes life and love of Jesus Christ.Bacus said the replica will stay at the Kidapawan Cathedral until Saturday and will be moved to a GKK community in Barangay Sibsib, Tulunan, North Cotabato. Parishioners from Koronadal City will fetch the cross for its South Cotabato tour.
