Unconvinced of Ombudsman's decision, Koronadal councilor to file MR
KORONADAL CITY -- A city councilor here who filed administrative charges against Koronadal City Mayor Peter Miguel and City Treasurer Marlon Gumbao was not convinced the Office of the Ombudsman dismissed his complaint.Councilor Rene Jumilla, a lawyer, said he will file motion for reconsideration before the Ombudsman after it dismissed his complaint for lack of evidence and for his failure to prove his claim. The decision was not convincing because there were legal issues that need to be clarified, Jumilla told DXOM-AM Radyo Bida Koronadal in Filipino.Jumilla said he could not accept the Ombudsman's explanation contained only in on paragraph that his accusations were baseless. What puzzled Jumillawas the Ombudsman's decision to alsojunked the criminal charges while he only filed administrative complaints.Jumilla accused Miguel and Gumbao of violating Republic Act 3019 or Anti Graft and Corrupt Practices Act in the disposal of P12.7 million 2014 intelligence fund of Koronadal City. But Gumbao countered by saying Jumilla's allegations were baseless and out to malign him and Mayor Miguel.Gumbao stressed that the appropriation of intelligence fund went through legal process and in accordance with government accounting procedures. He added it was approved by the Koronadal City Council and affirmed by the South Cotabato provincial board.Jumilla filed the complaint in August last year.Gumbao said he is preparing counter charges against the city councilor.
