All is set for Kidapawan's founding anniv, Timpupo festival

KIDAPAWAN CITY – Its all systems go for the city government in celebration of the its 71st Foundation Anniversary and the 2018 Timpupo Festival on starting this Friday, August 10.Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph Evangelista and city officials will lead both celebrations that will serve as commemoration of the founding of the then Municipality of Kidapawan as well as thanksgiving for this year’s bountiful harvest of fruits such as rambutan, mangosteen, marang, durian and lanzones.Timpupo which means ‘harvest’ will be used to promote the marketing opportunities of the city’s fruits and the diverse yet colorful culture and traditions of the indigenous people.Among the main highlights of this year’s celebrations will beand City Wide Fruit Trees Planting Activity and Search for the 2018 Binibining Kalikasan on August 10 the Opening of the Timpupo Trade Exhibit and the new City Sports and Wellness Facility at the City Plaza on August 11 Farm Family Day and Kidapawan Culture and Arts Exhibit on August 13 Sports Activities and Championships on August 10-19 Tribal Day Celebration on August 16 Thematic Costume Parade and 71st Anniversary Culmination Program on August 18 and the LGBT Hiyas ng Timpupo 2018 on August 19.The Timpupo Fruits Eat All You Can at the City Plaza will be on August 13 and 18 at 11 am.Tickets worth P50 each for the activity can be purchased at the City Tourism Office and City Treasurer's Office.Among the invited dignitaries and guests for the weeklong festivities includeand Senator Cynthia Villar- Chair of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Cotabato Governor Emmylou Taliño Mendoza will grace the Farm Family Day Celebration.Rep.
